Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Vassilenko told EU Reporter that the elections that will take place in Kazakhstan in the next two weeks will be the most competitive that the country has ever had. There are seven candidates standing for election, from a woman entrepreneur to a Communist candidate who would like to renationalise certain industries. Vassilenko said that the elections would also be supervised with observers from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the OSCE (Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe).
