Amazon is meeting resistance around the country following its decision to withdraw plans to build its second headquarters in New York. Protesters in Virginia, where Amazon also plans to create a headquarters, have mobilized to scrutinize the company's presence in Crystal City. Amazon confirms to CNBC that it is shelving plans to occupy some 700,000 square feet of office space it had already leased at a tower under construction near its Seattle headquarters.
