Some Historical Cases of Erroneous Scientific Consensus - Benoit Rittaud The Lysenko Affair

A journalist once asked mathematician and author Benoit Rittaud, President of L'Association de Climato-Realistes (Association of Climate Realists), if there were any historical cases of a large scientific movement based on an erroneous premise like Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming. Climat Environnement & Énergie: At the Porto Basic Climate Science Conference of 2018, Rittaud explains that scientists generally do not study history, or they do so, the simply study the forward stepping stones of discovery - not the failings in between. In this talk, recorded at the Porto Basic Climate Conference in September of 2018, Rittaud discusses the Lysenko Affair as a similar mix of scientific error driven by politics, ideology, and fear of reprisal for any who dared to question, into its catastrophic implementation.
