MU Officials Say that a Man's Size Can Be Used As Grounds For Sexual Harassment Claims

In a Kansas City Star report Friday, Dec. 28, University of Missouri's then-Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Cathy Scroggs agreed with testimony in a court filing that a man's physical size can be used as grounds for sexual harassment accusations.
The filing says that “Scroggs also believes that asking someone out on a date who is physically smaller than oneself qualifies as a ‘power or authority’ as defined by the university’s conduct code.” the Star reported.
The filing also states that the university's Assistant Vice Chancellor for Civil Rights and Title IX also agrees with Scroggs “that a man’s physical size is sufficient to bring him within the ambit of that rule."
The case comes after former MU student Jeremy Rowles was barred from the university's four campuses for 4 years, which was eventually reduced to 2 years, for breaking their student conduct code.
UPDATE: The University of Missouri issued the following statement to Yahoo and ABC 30 regarding the situation:
"(Media attention on the one aspect ) is out of context and incomplete, creating an inaccurate picture of the situation. These reports left out important facts that can be found in court records regarding the suspended student’s repeated conduct both in person and on social media. Multiple complaints and concerns were expressed by at least four female students, and they provide important contextual information about this situation. The University of Missouri stands by its decision — a decision that was made to protect the welfare of our students.”
Rowles is currently suing the university on the grounds of racial bias.
