Makara Sankranti Ellu Bella recipe| Karnataka style sankranti ellu til mixture. Makara sankranthi is a festival celebrated with gusto all over India. The south Indian states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu have some similar customs – we prepare a sesame seed based mixture with jaggery, peanuts, etc. We go to our friends’ and neighbours’ houses and distribute this mixture with some fruits and sugarcane. We prepare sweet and savoury pongal dishes. This is one of the major Indian festivals and in my house, my mom goes to great pains to prepare the perfect ellu (sesame seed) mixture. It has the perfect balance of all ingredients, she takes great care to cut and sort everything so that each piece of the mixture is of the same size and shape, and the end result is just amazing. We keep it and have it as a snack for many days after the festival. I persuaded my mom to make it for my video, so that I can share a part of my culture with all of you.
