Football News24/7 West Ham bagged themselves a rare win over Arsenal on Saturday afternoon. For all their impressive performances this season, the Hammers were still anticipating a tough match at the London Stadium but underestimated themselves ahead of a brilliant win. Arsenal were unable to get a major foothold in the game and Declan Rice produced the winner after 48 minutes, sweeping home with a right-footed finish. The win consolidated West Ham's place in the Premier League's top half and they are now only three points away from breathing down Manchester United's neck. So, there was plenty of cause for optimism and Manuel Pellegrini was chuffed after match, stating: “We were balanced in attacking and defending and we didn’t allow Arsenal to create chances. West Ham 1-0 Arsenal "We saw that they had many good attackers – Aubameyang, Lacazette, Ramsey, Iwobi, all of them, players who make a difference – but I think they had one chance at the beginning that Lukasz Fabianski saved. "You can’t think you’re playing Arsenal so you have to play with all your team defending, and then the next week you’re playing the teams who are not so big and you work a different way." Aside from the impressive aspects of West Ham's game, though, they were also able to exploit the weaknesses of an Arsenal side transitioning from Unai Emery's honeymoon period. Felipe Anderson's counterattack It was, by all accounts, a poor showing from the Gunners and you could choose numerous clips from the game that demonstrated West Ham's control. However, few moments summed up the swagger of the Hammers quite like Felipe Anderson's counterattack during the 64th minute. The Brazilian - who has been superb this season - galloped down the right wing and was so nonchalant in his attack that he decided to adjust his gloves while dribbling. That's got to sting. Unsurprisingly, the clip quickly garnered engagement on Twitter and can be seen down below: Come on Felipe, that's just taking the mickey. His decision to fix his gloves weren't to the detriment of the attack either, with the 25-year-old going on to breeze past the Arsenal defence and deliver a cross into the penalty area. Anderson caused serious problems for Matteo Guendouzi and Ainsley Maitland-Niles all game, so his single moment of confidence rather summed up his entire performance. There wasn't to be another goal for Anderson on the day, but he still received wide-spread praise and will be looking to add to his tally of eight strikes in the coming days. As for Arsenal, they will have to rebuild and strive for the type of consistency that they have so desperately lacked. Defeats to West Ham, Liverpool and Southampton in the last six games has left them with far more adjusting to do than Anderson and his winter wear. Where do you think Arsenal will finish this season?
