A Carleton University researcher has invented a high-speed X-ray system that’s now being used to study the effects of collisions on football and hockey helmets, pig brains, synthetic brains and cadavers.

Prof. Oren Petel conducts his research from a small, lead-lined lab on the sixth floor of Carleton’s Canal Building.
