Built for combat part 2, how to make the ultimate extreme apparel with allmade shirts and green galaxy water base ink. About a month ago Buck Premo and I signed up for SealFits Kokoro challenge, this is basically a civilian version of the Navy Seals hell week we have all heard about. To participate we need to bring our own shirts. These shirts are going to go through literal hell and back, we will be going at it for almost 3 days, getting dirty, wet, stamped on, pounded, brushed, hammered so of course we need a combat ready shirt. The instructions say to stencil on your name! Stencil? I don’t think so. Whether we pass or fail, one thing I know, we’ll have the best shirts there, ha! BTW, I don’t think a super light weight, strong, soft, and breathable shirt is going to hurt, in fact I think its going to be our secret weapon.
Ingredients. Allmade White Natural Tri-blend, Pitch Black Water Base Ink. This is going to make a super lightweight, breathable, soft hand print, and shirt blend the recycled polyester, organic cotton, and modal, will hold up stronger, dry faster, and last longer! I’m an advocate for water base prints especially when it comes to lighter fabrics, why slab plastic on your shirt! Its not only more eco friendly its going to be a hell of a lot better to sweat, drench, dry, and fly through Kokoro!
Instructions.
Simple. I made a screen using Ryonet's CryoCoat emulsion built for long lasting water base printing. I’m using as 230 mesh screen though you can use a 156 and 200 mesh too! With water base you want to flood your screen, print with two passes, one to release the ink, and one to get opacity. Our pitch black is formulated using a 80% base and 20% opaque or covering which helps it stand up on top of the fibers. Bam, looks great!
Next we cure it, ink needs to cure at 320 degrees for about 2 minutes, we are using the air flow aleos dryer from BBC, this guys cures water base no problem, if I didn’t have this bad to the bone dryer I could also in warp drive into the ink but since we this guy, no need.
Premo, Moor, ready to check into hell! Pushups, pullups, running, crawling, watering, the harder it gets, the better it feels! Bring it, "The Only Easy Day Was Yesterday", "It Pays to be a Winner"
