This model of the Aigner Bowmouldmaster shaper hood for doing arc profiles is the larger-wider model. The Format4 Profil45 cast iron table on this model has pretapped holes for mounting either Bowmold master hood. The Aigner hood has several features that improve safety (my main reason for getting this model) and dust extraction for larger profile tooling, a 120MM duct for above table extraction, adjustability and a spring loaded finger for guiding wood into the tooling slowly at the first of a motion in operation.
The two knobs at the top of the hood housing adjust in a sliding motion where they secure the Aigner hood to the iron table. Additionally the alloy top part of the hood has further front to back adjustment latitude that fits most any tool you may have. For tight radius molding this Aigner accessory improves performance at the shaper. Dust extraction with the floating side brushes-white bristles is another feature the Aigner product brings.
The tilt of the camera was not enought to display the flexible duct at the top of the Aigner hood; sorry bout that. Metric sizes of adapters for these machines sometimes requires buying black plastic adapters and cutting them to fit along with stainless steel bands used to hold such in place.
This molding head of 14 knives is set at 10K rpms.
The profile tooling is set about .005" below the top edge of the red oak wood to allow some margin of safety in avoiding the profile tool to come into contact with the blue flexible curve. If those two come in contact you will definitely get a grab situation that is dangerous. Also allow plenty of clearance at the end of each board for having the tooling grab adjacent wood and create a danger. Personal experience here.
I kept saying the name of the flexible profile in blue as . . . ; it should be Kurvenlinfix by Fisch. And, the size is 18MM X 18MM.
