5G വരുന്നു 💥. 5Gയെ കുറിച് അറിയേണ്ടതെല്ലാം | Tips about 5G Network
5G is the fifth generation cellular technology that not only increases the downloading and uploading speeds over the mobile network but it also reduces the latency, which is the time taken by a network to respond, increases energy efficiency and offers more stable network connections.
When fully deployed, 5G will provide download speed of 1Gbps, which is at least 100 times the existing data speeds. To put it simply, 5G will not only allow you to download the HD version of Avengers: Infinity Wars within seconds but it will also ensure that when watching movies online there is negligible buffer time. And since 5G will a wider area in the frequency spectrum, which is the range of frequencies where technologies such as LTE, Bluetooth, 4G, 3G, etc work, it will ensure that there is no network congestion. Additionally, it will ensure that connectivity comes to a full circle, which means that everything is connected to every other thing.
India, traditionally been a late adopter of advanced technologies. We still are struggling to achieve the speed 4G network offers. In fact 4G speeds in India are some of the worst in the world. It is highly unlikely that we will witness any major developments in the coming year.
Well, deployment of 5G, just like 4G, will happen with the auction of the milimeter-wave spectrum, which is the frequency range between 28 to 100 GHz. This is also an area where India is unprepared and that is why it may not get 5G anytime soon.
In the US, which has been the center of the recent 5G-related reports, three mobile carriers have taken the task to upgrade the existing 4G infrastructure to 5G. While Sprint and T-Mobile have approached the Federal Trade Commission, which is the authority that takes care of frequency auctions in the US, to allow them to merge so that they are able to utilize their resources to provide better services, Verizon is going solo and it has already launched its "5G" home service in Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles and Sacramento. Additionally AT&T is also planning to deploy a true 5G network next year.
For those of you who are confused about the "true 5G network" here's some clarification. The switch from 4G to 5G will be infrastructure intensive, which means mobile service providers will have to upgrade their underlying hardware countrywide in order to provide 5G speeds. Since this can't happen overnight, they would use the 4G LTE infrastructure to eventually migrate to 5G.
To put it simply, even when 5G is deployed, it will take the telecos a couple of years, say probably till 2020 to achieve the speed 5G promises.
As mentioned before, telecos in the US have already started testing the 5G networks in select regions in the US. Besides the US, South Korea and Japan are also speeding to deploy 5G in their territories next year.
In one word - Yes. When the mobile service providers upgraded from 3G to 4G, customers had to buy new 4G SIM cards and buy new 4G LTE enabled phones to access the better speeds. Something similar will happen in case of 5G as well. Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi and Motorola's 5G Moto Mod will all offer 5G smartphones next year. Apple, on the other hand, is planning to launch a 5G-enabled phone in 2020.
Having said that, the telecom regulatory authority of India (TRAI) has started the process of auctioning the 5G spectrum in India. Meanwhile, analysts have predicted that India will fully adopt 5G by 2022.
