Naseeruddin Shah says "I celebrate Diwali with my family. We burst crackers, however, I stay away from noisy crackers and rockets. With age my hearing is ears hurt, so I try getting out of Mumbai. I prefer theatre over films because the quality of scripts have started deteriorating without any scope of improvement in films. But when it comes to theatre, the writing quality is good and we can choose any theatre play from the history and adapt it as per the director. Great work of writing is only available in theatre which is also challenging at the same time and I like challenging roles. We started doing the classics because we wanted to measure ourselves through the work of these great writers. This was the reason we started doing Shakespeare and Samuel Beckett."
Naseeruddin Shah was born on July 20, 1950 in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, India. He is an actor, known for The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003), A Wednesday (2008) and Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro (1983). He has been married to Ratna Pathak Shah since April 1, 1982. They have three children. Awarded Padma Bhushan for the year 2003 by the Government of India.
