Ali Hassan, the father of a two-year-old child who suffers from a rare brain disease and is not expected to survive, pleaded with authorities on Monday to issue a waiver allowing the child's mother into the U.S.
Hassan's wife Shaima Swileh, a Yemeni national, is not allowed to enter the U.S. since the Supreme Court upheld the Trump administration's travel ban.
The family has held off on removing Hassan's son Abdullah from life-support so that his mother can see him.
The State Department has not commented on Abdullah Hassan's case.
